Update – Extension of lockdown in Mauritius to prevent the spread of Covid-19

Further to our communiqué of 24 March 2021 where we informed you that Mauritius was extending its existing lockdown period with a first phase of reopening as from Wednesday 31 March 2021, the Government has announced on the evening of 31 March 2021 that the existing lockdown period will be extended till Friday 30 April 2021, with the reopening of additional economic activities as from 01 April 2021. This decision has been taken after a review of the prevailing situation in the country, the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 and the risks associated with terminating the lockdown period on Wednesday 31 March 2021.

As from 01 April 2021, certain business activities will be allowed to re-open, subject to strict sanitary measures being complied with and only individuals with a work access permit can attend their place of work.

Our Business Continuity Plan remains operational and our employees will continue to work from home until 30 April 2021, in order to service our client needs. We hope that with the national vaccination program currently in progress, we will soon be able to go back to our normality.

If you have any queries relating to your business and for any transactions, please feel free to contact your usual relationship person by email and they shall revert to you with the usual promptitude. We will keep you updated on the situation in Mauritius through regular Communiqués.

We count on your understanding and continuous support throughout this challenging situation. We wish you, your families, and your staff continued health and safety.
