The newly appointed EU Ambassador to Mauritius, Mr. Oskar Benedikt, met with Minister Maneesh Gobin, on September 12, 2023. Minister Gobin appreciated the strong partnership between Mauritius and the EU, highlighting their shared commitment to democracy and inclusive development. He expressed interest in deeper collaboration in areas such as the environment, climate change, fisheries, green energy, maritime safety, public health, and biodiversity conservation.
Ambassador Benedikt praised Mauritius’s progress and reaffirmed the EU’s dedication to supporting sustainable development while addressing common challenges. Mauritius and the EU, as significant trade partners, aim to strengthen their economic ties, exploring investment opportunities in sectors like pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, renewable energy, financial services, and education.
