International Women’s Day 2023: PM Jugnauth highlights women’s pivotal contribution in all spheres of life

A national event under the theme “Madam dan enn lemond dizital: inklizion, egalite, oportinite” was held on 5 March 2023, on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2023. The event was attended by the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Mr. Pravind Jugnauth and other eminent personalities. 

During his allocution, the Prime Minister acknowledged the remarkable progress made by women in various fields such as education, health, politics, and workplace. He praised the resilience, determination, and courage of women who have faced and overcome numerous challenges and barriers. The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for women to thrive and achieve their full potential. He called for the elimination of discrimination and violence against women and the promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister urged everyone to recognize and appreciate the significant role that women play in society and to support their aspirations for a better future. He emphasized that women’s contributions are critical for the development of Mauritius and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The Prime Minister’s message serves as a reminder of the need to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of women while also addressing the challenges they face.
