Covid-19 update: Lifting of lockdown in Mauritius – second phase of reopening

Further to our communiqué of 01 April 2021 where we informed you that Mauritius was extending its lockdown period with a first phase of reopening as from 30 April 2021, the Honourable Prime Minister of Mauritius has announced on the evening of 25 April 2021 that Mauritius will proceed with its second phase of reopening as from 01 May 2021.This decision has been taken after a review of the prevailing situation in the country following a positive improvement with a decreasing number of Covid-19 cases through local transmission in Mauritius.

As from 01 May 2021, certain business activities will be allowed to re-open, subject to strict sanitary measures being complied with and individuals attending their place of work will no longer require a work access permit. This situation shall be reviewed for the period 01 May 2021 to 01 June 2021 and if the situation is further contained with no new cases of Covid-19, then more business activities will be allowed to re-open as the country will proceed towards its gradual lifting of its lockdown.

Our Business Continuity Plan, which has been successful till date, remains operational and most of our employees will continue to work from home, until further notice, in order to service our client needs. We will re-assess the situation as and when the lockdown is fully lifted, and we shall keep you informed.

If you have any queries relating to your business and for any transactions, please feel free to contact your usual relationship person by email and they shall revert to you with the usual promptitude. We will keep you updated on the situation in Mauritius through regular Communiqués.

We count on your understanding and continuous support throughout this challenging situation. We wish you, your families, and your staff continued health and safety.
