Covid-19 Update: Back to normal in Mauritius

We are pleased to inform you that Mauritius has officially lifted its sanitary curfew since midnight on 30 May 2020. In his address to the nation on Friday 29 May 2020, the Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth announced the lifting of all lockdown measures to allow for most economic activities to resume in the country as from Sunday 31 May 2020 as we progress towards a gradual return to the normal in the country.

As at date, there are 3 active cases of Covid-19 in the country and we have not recorded any new local cases for more than a month. The 3 recent cases of Covid-19 were imported cases and were discovered whilst the patients were in quarantine. The Honourable Prime Minister said whilst Mauritius is embarking on a new phase and we learn to live and work in a post Covid-19 world, we will need to maintain strict vigilance to prevent any second wave of new cases. As such there will still be some restrictions on certain activities in public spaces and public gatherings. Moreover, there are laws and instructions which we will have to abide to; the key measures regarding social distancing and hygiene practices will remain in force, such as wearing of masks in public areas.

As communicated previously, our office has officially reopened since Monday 18 May 2020 and is being manned by a limited number of staff consisting mainly of the support services team. Our priority continues to be to safeguard the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees and their families; thus, we have encouraged most of our team to continue to work from home until further notice.  We also implemented the necessary health and safety protocols to ensure that those who are working from the office operate within a safe and sound environment, in accordance with Government and WHO protocols.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support throughout these testing times. If you have any queries or concerns in respect of the above or have any enquiries in relation to your business, please feel free to contact your respective relationship person by email and they will revert to you at earliest.

We wish you, your families, and your staff continued health and safety throughout this challenging period.
