We are pleased to inform you that Axis is privileged to join the fight against Covid-19 by supporting the Africa Public Health Foundation (“APHF”). The APHF is a charitable foundation whose main purpose is to help African member states carrying out activities for the prevention and control of diseases, disorders, injuries and disabilities and for the promotion of public health within the continent. Such activities also include inter alia supporting African Union Member States with guidance, training, and vital supplies to combat the spread of the virus and save lives. The APHF aligns itself with the vision and mission of Africa Centre for Disease Control (Africa CDC) and aims to also enhance the latter’s efforts to respond to health and security threats in the African continent. APHF is equivalent to a U.S. public charity and you can learn more on APHF from its website: https://aphf.africa/and https://www.weforum.org/press/2019/09/africa-public-health-foundation-to-address-epidemic-preparedness-and-response/
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a far-reaching impact across Africa, highlighting the weaknesses in our preparedness and national public health systems. As the emergency has unfolded, the Africa CDC has emerged as a leading light with the establishment of the APHF to carry out the abovementioned initiatives. Axis is proud to partner with the APHF in this mission and currently serves as its secretary. Our Founder Partner and Managing Director, Mr. Assad Abdullatiff, is also a member of the APHF governing council and leading this exciting model of collaboration, uniquely tailored to the African context.
Philanthropic leaders to transform the face of healthcare in Africa have an opportunity to get involved now, as the APHF develops its first investments. In that respect, we are writing to you on their behalf to inform you that the APHF is seeking donations to support its initiatives to combat Covid-19 in Africa. Your valuable donations will be used to ensure that patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and information, thus increasing Africa’s capacity to handle its public health needs. Should you wish to contribute generously, kindly let us know and we shall share the contact and banking details of APHF.
We look forward to hearing from you and thank you in anticipation.
