Assad Abdullatiff highlights the implications of Mauritius leaving the FATF grey list on Radio One’s segment, “La question se pose”

Mr. Assad Abdullatiff, Managing Director at Axis Fiduciary Ltd, was invited to participate in “La question se pose” on Radio One on 27 October 2021, where he shared his insights on Mauritius being whitelisted by the FATF and the way forward for the jurisdiction. Alongside Mr. Samade Jhummun, the CEO of Mauritius Finance, Assad provided an astute breakdown of the situations that led to Mauritius being greylisted by the FATF and subsequently falling into the EU blacklist and how Mauritius was able to show resilient determination to step back into the whitelist of the FATF. Assad commended the high level collaboration between the numerous governmental, financial and regulatory bodies for their diligent effort to comply with and implement the FATF recommendations within the allocated time period.

The next step for Mauritius, as presented by the panelists, will be to exit the EU blacklist; an accurately predictable outcome set to happen in the upcoming 6-8 weeks, and further strengthening of the AML/CFT regime through the strong collaboration with the ESAAMLG.
